dizzydaydreambeliever:

Because I haven’t given him much love lately, and he deserves it, here are a  bunch of random screenshots I’ve made of Henry in various episodes in Season 2.

  • Me: Clean is as clean does and clean does as clean thinks.
  • Mom: What?
  • Me: Clean is as clean does and clean does as clean thinks.
  • Mom: Who said that?
  • Me: Henry Blake.
  • Mom: You can quote Henry Blake?!
  • Me: Yeah...?
  • Mom: Oh, wait... M*A*S*H. I thought you were talking about William Blake!

M*A*S*H 30 day challenge, Day Ten: Blake or Potter (and why)?

If I were to go to the 4077th and work there, I would much rather work under the command of Sherman Potter than the command of Henry Blake. Also, if I were to have a drink with someone, I would rather have a drink with Sherman Potter than with Henry Blake. But that’s just because we’re different. Henry is great in his own way, and I think he had an important role in the starting off of the show. Under his command (well… “command”), characters like Hawkeye, Trapper and even Frank had the opportunity to shine since they weren’t kept on very tight reins. Henry’s way of handling his position also made for a great story when Potter came in to take his place, as people had a hard time adjusting. We get to see two very different types of leaderships, both functional but due to different things. For example, Henry wouldn’t have been able to command the outfit if it weren’t for Radar and the fact that people liked Henry, while Potter commands with the help of his years of experience and natural authority. He believes in himself, and therefore, people believe in him.

I think I like Henry and Col. Potter best as they are, both there but not at the same time, because they give so much to the development of M*A*S*H.
